Intermittent wipers?

I own an 83 F150. Completely base model, so no power anything. I'd like to know if these trucks had the intermittent wiper option back in the day and if I can convert. If yes, what would I need? Just a switch? Relay or wiring? If it's a simple upgrade I will do it.

Yes, they had that as an option and you can convert. You need a new switch and the intermittent governor/controller. Nothing else needed. I just posted on the Bullnose Forum that E-bay has a complete setup for $59.95

I just watched a video on Youtube showing the swap a few days ago. It is a plug-N-play swap with the intermittent switch assembly if you can get your hands on one. I haven't searched to see if they are available or not, but it is an easy swap from what I saw. My 84 "needs" this swap as well, so it's on my wish list after I get some other more serious issues sorted out.

Any idea what is different about the 80/early-84 Governor and the late-84/86 Governor?

I just bought a Governor for a spare for my '82, but i didn't realize there were two different ones.

On that E-bay link there is a place to enter the year, make, model, etc., and when I pug in my 1982 F250 it says it fits. But of course E-bay is not always right.

I used to bring these home from the junked and sell them on ebay. I tested them first on my truck. I found that 1980-1986 worked the same. The earlier one (1970's) might have a wiring issue with the windshield washer squirters ... but I read that you could re-pin a wire.

I would just try it.

Is it enough to just move the spade from 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock (or vise versa)

CB, when I tried my 81 it said it did not fit?
Then tried 83, did not fit.
Tried 84 & 86 and they fit.
