I think I have found why my truck seems so sluggish, it seems my trans is shifting from first to second pretty much as soon as I start moving forward, second shifts 30-45 mph depends on how hard I am on the throttle but first goes anywhere from 1 to 10 mph. I have adjusted the modulator and the VRV til I am blue in the face and it has zero effect on the 1-2 shift all it does is makes it where it takes off in second all the time or shifts really hard into 3rd. I just had the trans rebuilt I doubt it has 2000 miles on it and I would just take it back to the gut that built it but his hours are the same as mine so I would rather fix it myself if I can. I have the correct modulator I know that but that's about all I know. Any help would be appreciated
So apparently I need a vrv valve, mine is broken where can I get one ford says they are obsolete and I can't seem to find one aftermarket PLEASE anyone got a good old one or a source on a new one let me know. Thanks
Before buying a part check your vacuum it should be at 20-25 hg draw. If no vacuum no proper shift for trans. I broke alternator belt which drive vacuum pump. My truck was stuck at 30-40 mph. Lucky for me I was close to home.
Mine is ok but one of the little nipples broke off, I got it rigged up so I can get back and fourth to work but it is only temporary. My vacuum pump is good which was kinda surprising because my power brakes are not but I am pulling ~ 25hg vacuum at idle and am getting 20 of that at the modulator. I would be perfectly fine if I could just find a good used one
You can fix that find brake line the same diameter of hole. With brake line tool flare out a little and screw that flare in and seal with a good caulk. The plastic on the vrv is weird. I suggest a sealant for metal and plastic.
If you have one check the bottom for rust rot. Mine was gone so I took the circular valve out and took two endcaps for pvc drain pipe 6 inch diameter and sealed the valve in a cap and made my own. PVC don't rust out.
