I just came over from the land of half-tons and I haven't regretted it at all. I used to have a 5.0 cab with 3.55 gears and my 2017 6.2 w/ 4.30 gears is probably as fast and maybe a little faster.

but that's not the important part. The truck tows and handles loads really well. The new tech is also really nice to have.

Plus I think we have a pretty good range of guys who've shared mpg, towing videos, and general truck mods so you've got a good baseline of knowledge from which to draw and figure out what options you want to order.

No regrets at all, and yes I've regeared.

Zero regrets. My '17 with the torqshiftG is and 4.30 gears is great as a daily driver and for towing. Ford really got it right as far as the whole power train. If I was trying to 20,000 up mountains I might have a different opinion, but compared to my prior 5.4L, the 6.2 is light years ahead in every way. Except mpg, that's about the same...

I love the 6.2 and 4.30 combo. Nothing like driving the most reliable new truck on the road today. There's no reason to worry about re-gearing unless you are planning on not getting 4.30's and/or running 37" plus tires.

I'm very happy with my '17. I liked my '11 250 w/6.2 as well; I was just suffering from "XLT regret". I think the 6.2 is a terrific motor that can hold its own. It is made even better w/4:30 gearing if you have a need for the extra umph.

I had a 2016 and that was my first experience withe 6.2. Absolutely loved the truck but needed more payload for my truck camper so I upgraded to a 2017 F350 with the 6.2. Absolutely love this truck as well.
The 6.2 is a great engine and I actually like my XLT Premium package in this one better than the Lariat package I had on my 2016.

Coming from a 99 f350 with a 6.8l V10, the 2017 6.2l feels amazing. It's a significant difference. I haven't towed my camper at high elevations yet but I expect it to handle the load much better than my V10 did. Thoroughly impressed with this truck.

My truck is huge step up from the previous one. 2 more gears and a lower rear end makes it tow a lot better. It's got plenty of power. MPG's are a little less but not enough to worry about. Looking forward to less maintenance as well. I have no use or desire to have a diesel again.

Thumbs up

Our 2017 F350 CCSB may be one of the few with the 6.2 + 6R140 + 3.73EL + 4x2 + "small" 275/65R18E A/S tire combo. So far, so good; we'll tow with it in October.

This truck is an intergalactic jump from our old truck (see signature).

Regards,
Jim / crewzer

I bought my 250 with the 6.2 3 weeks ago and it has the 3.73 rear. Have not towed my travel trailer with it yet. Coming from a 2011 250 with the 6.7 I'm a little disappointed so far. I know it doesn't have the torgue my diesel did, which I didn't expect it to have. But my truck seems sluggish in 2nd and 4th gears. Feels like it should have more get up. But as long as it tows my travel trailer ok I'll be happy

Going diesel to 6.2 is common these days. What else is common is the dissatisfaction of the 6.2/3.73 after diesel ownership. I suffered from it and ordered a new 6.2 with 4.30 and I can promise it makes switching to gas much easier. If every 6.2 truck sitting on lots had 4.30 instead of 3.73 there would be a lot more satisfied drivers out there. I seriously wonder if it is part of a ploy by Ford to keep 6.7 sales up as more and more are moving to gas.
