Anyone have some advice on how I can clean this part of the engine so that I can read the serial number? See pics below. I thought about steel wool. Shop rag and wd40 got me nowhere.
You can also do some tricks in Photoshop
but the lighting needs to be even and not
have the flash hot spots.
Your other option is use a Scotch Brite pan
and then some black paint to fill the divots.
Than take the Scotch Brite pad at it again to
remove the paint that is not in the divots.
Cheap model paint works well for this because
it drys fast and then retake the photo with even
lighting and no hot spots. It's the flash hot spots
that make using a photo editing tool a lot harder.
That's a fair question. I have an early 03... like December 2002 (November on the trans). The serial number will help me when ordering some parts. A lot seemed to change in the first year as Ford worked things out.
