eec question

I've been having horrible problems with my idol and I noticed that Franklin2 once mention something about the eec, I unplugged it and found that the module itself was moving around, someone just placed it up in the rack without securing it could this be part of my problem is it supposed to be grounded as it's mounted ?

The one on my ranger does have a short ground wire going to the body from the computer. There is also a wired ground in the harness, it comes right off the negative terminal of the battery, goes to a little disconnect which likes to corrode, and then into the harness. I unplugged this the other day while the truck was running and it died. So while the short ground at the computer itself must be for shielding and noise, this ground at the battery is what it uses to run everything in the computer system.

Yes I know what you're talking about when I bought the truck it wouldn't start my neighbor came over and that wire was disconnected and connected it back to the negative cable and it fired right up OK guess I'll put the eec back in as is -thanks
