I loaded it and tried to find some old threads to see if it works, but it's hard to tell -- Almost have to find a thread to test it on BEFORE loading the extension.
It worked Ross! Thank you, thank you, thank you You can tell most of us are more into Trucks than Computers or it would not have taken this long to figure out this simple fix out!
I am getting mixed results with Chromium browser. I looked at this thread and most, but not all the pictures were viewable without any setting changes.
The same pictures were viewable when using Firefox too.
AFAIK I'm seeing them all, Fred. No "3rd Party Hosting" messages at any rate. Try closing and re-starting Chrome.
Note that if the PB picture has been deleted because of this whole fiasco, it's not going to show no matter what. I know I deleted everything I had on there. As a side note, the PB site seems to have gotten even slower, if that's possible.
I haven't deleted anything. I have found the thumbnail images still show up even when the larger images don't (at least with the bowsers and settings I currently use). This is good since my most referenced thread on Ford Barn is full of photobucket linked thumbnails.
I have not had the problems with PB that you have mentioned. All my pictures are still there. In fact, I signed up for their free app and now get 10GB of free space.
Yes, they have eliminated party hosting. I read their new policy statement and there is no revenue for them by providing this service. They depend on ads for much of this revenue and with AD Blocker it is more difficult. It is always difficult to go from a free service to a pay service.
I do believe their rates are high. However, in a capitalist society, the market will decide.
The Chrome Extension allows you to see Other People's linked/embedded pictures, it doesn't have anything to do with PB accounts. Basically it makes an embedded PB picture not seem to be embedded, bypassing PB's restrictions.
Awesome Ross!
I can see the pictures on my thread now. I need to go through and edit them and put them in through the new way and get rid of the photobucket links. That will take some work though.
It worked for me with Chrome on my Mac. The Safari fix is supposed to be included in the latest safe version of Adobe Flash and all but a couple of the pictures were fine without an extension.
