Hello, i just recently bought a 78 f150 custom, it has athe big 6 with what i believe is a t18. It is 4x4 and it is just a little to slow for me. I want something that will be drivable for a 1400 mile trip about once a year and not to terriable on gas. Ive been looking at 4bt cummins but i dont really want to put that much work into it. I want to try to keep as many electronics out of the picture as possible. Also what is the best tank to switch to right now it has the 19 gal tank and thats just not enough to go from gas station to station. Im trying to go for the best bang for the buck conversion.

4BT/ 6BT/ IDI all require only one 12 volt wire to run.
Look for an overdrive trans for the most bang for the least bucks.
As far as a gas tank, many have added a bronco tank under the bed behind the rear end.
