Does anyone have the size of the various y block dip sticks? I can't seem to find the link but I read somewhere that there are 3 different sizes depending on what vehicle the motor came out of.
My lovely Y block is in a truck and I want to make sure I have the oil at the correct level. I have noticed when going around corners that the pressure level dips. Not to an unsafe level but enough to make me think it's likely low.
There are quite a number of dipstick and tube combos for truck Y-Blocks alone. At least one tube is indicated as cut to fit. To complicate things further, there are two volumes of oil pan for trucks. This makes it difficult to know just which one you need.
The easiest way to know is to do an oil change and then mark your dipstick.
Another thing you can try is to simply add another quart of oil and see if the situation improves. 1 quart extra, even if it currently has the correct amount will not cause any problems.
