The wire is capped off just like the OP's. It does splice into two other green wires, then joins the harness under the power distribution box. I'm not interested enough to cut into my harness to follow it to the other end.

The recall prevents a fire caused by brake fluid leaking into the switch at the end of the master cylinder. They install a harness with two fuses inline. It's free, and there is no reason not to get it done.

After reading about it and the explanations It seems this could be the recall part on my truck. Does it look familiar? It appears to be hooked up to the loom with the exposed green wire. That other empty plug has a harness connected and goes down to around to somewhere around or under the steering and Master cylinder. It was a one owner and has never been hooked up since I got it. I know differences in accessories or options may have caused it to be there. But would like to make sure.

Those two plugs above are C105 (Black Plug) and C149 (Gray Plug).

The blue tag in my picture is the harness that the recall adds, the same as subford. Mine was zip tied to the crankcase breather pipe next to the airbox.

Subford, what is the wire the arrows are pointing at in your picture?

I do not have that harness and I checked on a ford site and it says the recall on my vin has not been done. Also should anything be plugged in the empty connector in my picture? Thank you both very much for your time. Sandy

mrollings53,
That is the harness that has the pressure switch connector on it that plugged into the pressure switch before the recall mod. Now it plugs into the recall harness and the recall harness has a new plug that plugs into the pressure switch.

Not the harness, the wire between the two harness.

OK after closer examination the dangling green wire was not the wire I cut. The dangling light green circuit #511 wire and is C104 on the end.
C104 is the BOO wire for customer use.
I just cut a 5.0L harness apart to find out what the wire was.

It gets a cap like the black one next to it. Leaving it be is fine too. If you want you can get the relay box in the pic subford posted, and add factory 7 pin trailer wiring to your truck. There are two more black and gray connectors under the end of the bed that the 7 pin connector plugs into.

Great info. Thanks one more time for the help guys. And a very special thanks to Tedster9 for the enormous amount of time and effort put forth to give the very detailed information about the wire.

The only thing I can tell is it appears the wire is for the E40d which I don't have. Is that what you wanted me to be aware of in post 23. I am sorry I have no electrical experience at all, so the schematic part is Greek to me. I wish I was well versed but I left school very early on and Motorcycles was my thing. I didn't have the money for a car. Sandy

The wiring harness I took apart was from a 1995 5.0L with a 4R70W transmission so the diagram is wrong saying with E4OD only.
As you can see from the diagram the wire runs from the safety wall plug C202 pin #38 to the PCM Computer pin #2 with a splice S121 half way and that splice goes up to where you see the end dangling.
If you put a camper shell on your truck that green wire you are asking about is where you tie in the high brake light.
