Need a wire identified please

This green wire comes out of the harness that goes to the connection on the brake fluid master cylinder. There a three other wires that come out of the harness and go to the connection with no other place for another connection. This wire was just hanging from the harness and I have never seen it before. I have no CEL and my reader throws no codes in KOEO test. Thanks for any help. Sandy

That is the power wire going to the brake pressure switch for the speed control. You must not have speed control on that truck.

Thank you for the reply Subford
I do have cruise control and the last time I used it, it worked but that has been some time ago. Can you please tell me where it goes and I will put it back. I can not read a schematic. Also in looking again there is no where that the length of the wire will go that has any kind of connection for it that I can see.

Sometime back when Ford did not have the parts for the speed control recall they disabled the power to the pressure switch and that looks like what might have happened.
From what I can see in your photo is that the recall has not been done on your truck.

If the recall is still available, should I do it? I also just checked the wire after I read your post and the black end piece is a cap. It is sealed on the end. So, I have been going just fine without the wire and I hate to take it to the dealer for anything. But I will if needed for anything safety related. Sandy

Ford has an owner website where you can register your vehicle (even our trucks) and it'll tell you what recalls, if any, are out for your truck and if they've been done yet.

They even have a "vehicle health" section where you can get snapshots of your Ford assuming you have the dealer check it out or do maintenance. I signed up for it just cause I thought it was cool.

They say it is a fire hazard and the recall mod is free.

I cut my green wire and put a low amp fuse in it and powered it from another source so there would be no power on the wire with the key off.

Subford The end piece of my wire looks like more than a cap. Could it be a resistor or something similar doing the same thing as you did. Electrical is my nemesis. Sandy

Resister no but they could be powering the other end of the cut wire from another source.
I would not know anything more about it without taking the harness apart.

I'm not sure i would worry too much about it. My truck has the same wire, and it was like that before I did the brake switch recall. Cruise control has always functioned too.

It appears from the picture it might be hooked up. Is it now that you did the recall? Also what can happen if you don't do the brake switch recall? Subford mentioned a fire for a recall. Lastly do you recommend I do the recall and would I have symptoms now that could identify the issue is present? Thank you Sandy
