Question of the Week: Do MPGs factor into your truck/SUV purchases?

For our newest Question of the Week, we want to know whether or not fuel economy plays a key role when shopping for a new truck or SUV.

Please make your pick in the poll above and if you answer "no", tell us what figures and factors matter more than MPGs to you when looking to buy a new or used truck or SUV.

Not the top priority, but it figures in. My last truck, 05 with the 4.6, was a gas hog, 13 at best on the highway, downhill, with a tail wind. And I always wanted more power. I shopped for the 2.7 because I don't tow much at all, but I wanted the twin turbo power. Bought it in November 16 and am averaging 18+ almost every tank. Lots of around town driving, occasional hour long trip, rare road trips........

For me, no. Trucks notoriously get poor mileage; and as we know worse when towing. But that's 'merica! My '13 FX4 5.0 gets 15-16hwy with a KN filter and 45 lbs in the tires. However, I work from home and if we take long trips, the wife's Sentra comes in. Nonetheless, better than my Cobra, premium only in that beast.

I didn't consider mpg when I bought my truck. I knew I wanted a diesel truck with either the 6.9L IDI or 7.3L IDI. I bought my 86 f250 because it was a Bullnose with 4x4 and a 6.9L IDI.

When I bought the 2003 f150 ccsb I owned I choose one with a 5.4L. I test drove an f150 with a 4.6L but it was a dog. My 5.4L was actually a Lariat. Oh yeah!

I will say I did think about MPG when I bought my truck, but while I would like it to be higher the MPG wasn't going to stop me from driving what I wanted. I wanted it because it would be fun to drive and that is more important then MPG
