Repair shops ???
Just bought a 1966 Ford F 100 LB.
It is an all original Georgia farm truck that someone saved from a barn in Lublum Georgia, and drug down here to Central Florida to hot rod it, then changed his mind and sold it to me.
352 V8, Automatic, PS, power all drum brakes, dual exhaust. Hardly any noticeable rust except for bed floor at cab end of bed. Interior in very good original usable condition with perfect dash pad and only 1 rip at drivers door side. It is 2 tone tan and white.
Now I do not want to change anything and only want to get all systems working as they should.
It runs ok, but since it was sitting for many years inside a barn or carport, was covered with several layers of chicken ? poop.
A good scrubbing and vacuuming has it ready to drive. No more cosmetic improvements are planned.
Now, finally, for my problem.
The brakes are awful, screeching, spongy, etc as you might expect, and the truck wallows and leans on turns really bad. The only gauge that appears to work is the oil gauge, and sometimes when stopped a red light on the dash flashes OIL. ,
I have talked to several people at different brake shops and even the ford dealer, and no one wants to work on it except for one guy that said that if I leave it at his shop that every couple months he would send me a thousand dollar bill for whatever work he did. Just kidding.
But seriously, I really want to drive it as a daily driver, and since I am now over 70 years old, I can no longer crawl under trucks and wrench on it myself.
Is there a reliable honest shop in central florida that works on these old trucks and wont have to figure out what they are looking at.
I want the brakes put in safe working condition, leaks fixed, gauges working, and suspension checked out/repaired, new shocks or whatever is needed to stop truck from flopping around on turns. Also needs exhaust repairs and horn.
Is there anyone that could recommend a garage or individual that can work on these old trucks. If I can't get it safe to drive, I will probably have to let it go to the choppers that want it.
Thanks for any help
