I have my motor apart and doing studs, heads etc. While I am in there, I am replacing my lifters, as a precaution and pushrods (updated height). Any lifter recommendations or just OEM?
They are exactly the same as a 7.3. I used sealed power in mine. There probably aren't very many manufacturers actually. Just a lot of the same repackaged, Joe.
Well after talking to a FORD tech that I met today, he said in his 12 yrs working on this motor, he has seen VERY few failures on the 6.0L relating to lifters.
The failures he has seen were from high mileage trucks AND total lack of regard for maintenance. This put my mind at ease with choosing the OEM lifter and they can be had for 240.00 a set.
He did mention that the 6.4 is more likely to have issues, as he has seen lots in his days with FORD.
The Ford FSE that I know says when he got a call about the 6.4 they would just find little pieces in the oil pan.
I've got a lifter issue but it appears to be a collapsed lifter, not a bearing failure. So I while back I searched the web for failures. To not a high percentage, but it's got enough people hyped about it. I think the failure rate of the 6.4 lifters has had a multiplying effect to the 6.0.
However, if you're in there a new set of Ford lifters are not that expensive.

Thank you guys for the advice
I also heard this from a local shop, the 6.4 yes the 6.0 not so much unless there was lack of maintenance.
I pulled it apart today and it looks like the cam is in great condition. New lifters, new pushrods, new heads, warren 175/30's, adIIg4 165gph, regulated return I have had in a drawer for 2 years, arp's............good to go

I guess I've been living under a rock. With Akblackfoot's recent coolant pressure issue and now you're recommending this, have there been cooling issues and did you put one of these on your truck?
I have not, yet, but when the time comes I will. Even distribution of coolant flow is never a bad thing (just ask GM with the LS).
There's also reputable shops that install the kit on every build. For a little over 100 bux why not for the sake of better flow and elimitate steam pockets. And it's an easy install if your heads are off and you can use a drill and tap. Here's the ATS kit install instructions. This is a .pdf link http://www.atsdiesel.com/additionali...NST%20v1.1.pdf
I mention this because he is addressing the fuel system return and the coolant system is along the same lines.
After you first posted I took a look at it. Heads off or EVan it would be easy to do, and it's not that hard to cobble up parts on your own, although with good braided hoses that price is fair. I started having visions of silicone hose or hard line in my head. Depending on how good a person is bending hard line.
This really snuck up on me as I had not seen this kit before. With the '03 front cover and water pump I could see it more important.
This brings back memories. I recall those hoses being discussed a LONG time ago, but nothing has been mentioned about them in a long time. Nice post Pete.
They cured my issue and almost nobody except the mechanic thought it was my issue. Still think it has something to do with the Evans (flow characteristics or something wonky. I'm not smart enough to make a good guess even) but I haven't heard anybody bring up a con besides more leak points. I read some guys afraid of trashing the core value of the heads but once they are decked and oringed I doubt they could use them anyway right?
