Ahhh, I can see clearly now.. thanks AlM.... very informative, WOW~!!!
Snap on or bolt on for the distributor cap? Will this be standard for all 351/5.8L? I guessed snap on but???
are you guys getting motorsport 9mm plugwires due to better heat resistance? When you put headers on (especaily shorty headers) i would put on sparkplug protectors over the end boots to keep them from cooking. thats what i did, have not had any probelms so far, i got a set from summitracing for $40 or so.
yo Joey,
My orig recommendation to someone else (in an older thread about 2 months ago) was to get the Ford 9 mm set because it was actually cheaper than the OEM MotorCraft set from a dealer(incl. the cost of the new looms and s+h charges). Maybe that discussion was on the ex- MBB site?
anyway...
I have your engine tech info Link on my Bronco site, thanks! Want your excess listed there too?
Suds.. good you'll be extremely pleased with the system performance . I have a one mpg increase for sure. The rest of the goodies I'll let you experience.
Regarding wires. My last wire/plug,etc was at 90,000, now at 140,501. With the Bassani headers I know I need a heat resistant boot.
If anyone has better suggestion that Ford racing 9mm wires, I'm open... I hear a MSD TFI coil may be a smart "stock" replacement. I dont want to fiddle too much with the ignition system.
