Hi, brand new to this site and looking to see if anyone has insight to an issue with finding a cable that will fit a 1989 Crown Vic automatic 4-speed transmission to a 'threaded' speedometer for a 1949 Ford F1 truck speedometer (see pics).
I can buy the original cable for the 1989 crown vic, but the speedometer end will not work with this cable... maybe some sort of converter or need to find a cable that will work, with the proper ends. Searching around eBay, just wondering is someone has a link that may be better than guessing.
Best Regards and thanks so much for responding if you can help.

If the '48-'50 speedometers have the same size cable connection as the '51, the '64 Fairlane cable will work. My AOD is out of an '89 T-bird, so it should be identical to the '89 CV transmission...

Is there any reason you are keeping the VSS in the AOD ? Cruise or EFI ?
If not pull the VSS and use the original speedo cable with the AOD speedo gear and it should work.
Thanks so much for the quick replies, I'll get the hang of this site yet as I have more questions once I sort out finding the right cable which I am sure I can now. Just been very busy at this time.. need to slow down and get back to my project.
I have attached some pics of my project F1, it has a rebuilt 1089 5l, from a crown vic, with ps, pb (front disks & coils), rear end is a solid 9" from a 65 Galaxy.
