Hey all.. Yes I know another Manifold bolt thread.. I have a 95 Bronco 351w stock setup.. Had a leak on Passenger side.. SOOO I ordered a new Doorman Manifold from summit, picked up a set of Mr Gasket exhaust gaskets, and New bolts/studs .. Then I got ready for my inevitable *** kicking.. While the truck was still warm I blasted the bolts with PB Blaster let soak about 15mins.. Then right before I commenced to loosen them up I squirted them again.. So I had to get the heat shield outta the way and When I went to remove the last bolt holding it on.. and... Well... The stud fell out.. It was just sitting in there.. Meaning somebody else had snapped off the stud prior .. Well I did get lucky and manage to get all 7 out without breaking any.. Tried to get the broken stud out.. I pulled the inner fender well and have access but was still unable to get it to come out..
I tried the easy out ( that was a joke ) not to mention it snapped off in there with little to no pressure .. I tried to weld a nut to it and back it out.. That didn't work so basically I'm screwed.. Which really sucks because I like to fix it right. but I need the truck to go to work and I don't have the time nor money to pull the head and have done right..
So what I think I'm gonna do is take some Permatex Copper and install it with the gasket and go a little thicker where the broken stud is.. I'm hoping it will get me for a few more thousand miles but it may not get me to the end of the road..
If anybody has any suggestions that would be helpful as I'm sure most of you have this problem..
Also On the Doorman exhaust it came with bolts that cap off the top? those were not on the stock manifold. Do I need to seal those or do they tighten up.. Thanks Kaleb @ WMC
