In my area of the US, West Texas oil field. Long box trucks are very common and the short box trucks are the exception. My F350 SRW short box had to be hunted down and came from an east texas dealer. I would think the long box would bring about the same as a standard box, but it will depend on the local market. Very few dealerships utilize nada/kbb to value their vehicles.
Well, the wife just told me that she won't be travelling in a small truck camper. So long box it is.
And dually as well.
I think I am going to order a King Ranch with the chrome package to get rid of the chrome bumpers. They fair poorly of grid roads.
I haven't had a long box since the 2002. I think it will be good to get back that room I've missed.
Then I can carry my BMW GS in the box and close the tailgate.
Nope didn't need 8 footers and if I did, see that 40' gooseneck behind my truck. Think there's plenty of room for them on it.
In which case we could fairly say that you were compensating for measuring in at six instead of eight by whipping out the biggest trailer you could find.
Trying to get the best of both designs. I'm looking at the long bed but with a super cab rather than the crew cab. Wheel base is only 4" longer than the CCSB. Just me and the wife and will be pulling a fifth wheel. Any thoughts on this setup?
I was thinking of the F450 today and those big wheels and brakes. Not like I would really need such a beast but since I drive slower then most (110kmh max when pulling anything) the 4.30 gears would be ideal. And I've had 4.30 trucks before.
What a beast it is for the money.
My trucks are for working, there all F250 4X4 Standard Cab 8' beds since 1972. I rotate them every 5 years usually 250 K miles when I trade them and they tow trailers from day 0ne.
I've always done CCLB trucks. I think the large CC fronts with the short beds look out of proportion, enjoy putting 8' lumber in the bed and shut the tailgate, love the larger fuel tank. Whether I am parking a 21' truck or a 22' truck doesn't really matter.

I see plenty of long beds in my part of the country. If I needed that extra bed space I wouldn't hesitate, but I don't. I think the rake on these trucks is what makes them look so long. I know it is sacrilege with some, but I have a leveling kit on my short bed, and would definitely use a leveling kit on the long bed.
