On 3/4- and 1-ton trucks, wasn't much call for short beds 25 years ago, because pickups hadn't yet become the car replacements many use them as now. In today's market, the shorter beds sell well because of overall length concerns by consumers. The "pre-Super Duty" generation of trucks (1980-1997) had notably smaller cabs... the crew cab long box rode a 168.4" wheelbase - that's now 176" with no change in bed length or CA dimension. Both of my 90s-era F150s were SCLBs - their WB has increased from 155" to 164" - the new SuperCab is just 4 inches shorter than the old Crew Cab. It's also why half-tons offer the 5-1/2' bed, as that keeps the crew cab "garageable" as a family vehicle.

resale value really isn't a valid concern when buying a truck for a specific purpose. Which one serves you better and get it. The rest is just conversation for the sake of conversation.

If I do decide on the long bed it will be a dually.
Then I can get a nice big truck camper and tow my car hauler with the FJ40 to events.
This load is beyond a SRW truck anyway I guess.

Long beds are great for the space when you use it but 90% of the time you will not be using it and will have to put up with the increased turning radius.

The 2017 has a larger cab than the previous generation so all wheelbases are 4" longer this makes the CCLB 179.6". Which is about a mile long when driving. For this very reason I ordered a CCSB when upgrading from my 2005 F250 CCLB.

There are ways around the fuel tank size (Titan 55 Gal) and also sliding hitches or Andersen 5th wheel hitch to accomodate a 5th wheel in a short bed configuration.

For the increased maneuverability and ease of resale I chose a short be this time around.

In addition here in California my 2005 F250 CCLB rides absolutely terrible on the concrete freeways with their expansion joints. The Carli Commuter kit helped here immensely but also I have to carry around extra weight in the bed to compensate (which takes up space). For comparison I have driven my friends 2007 F250 CCSB and even with his blown out stock fake Rancho shocks it rides considerably better than mine.

I think if you use the bed a bunch get the long bed. For looks and easier parking the short bed is very nice. I had that on a 150. But the LB is too convenient to load.
I have a DRW CC and it is definitely more of a challenge to park and if I lived in the city and had to negotiate the small lots and congestion I would probably er... a .... move

Like the OP I have room to maneuver most places I drive and when it comes time to go in town, I take up 2 places way out.

As for resale. I buy my vehicles for me, not the next guy. They are all a loosing proposition from the day you buy it. So get what suits you and if you get your use out of it, what the heck difference will a couple hundred bucks be when you get rid of it?

Shrug. You posted a couple pictures of your shortbed. As far as I can tell you don't have much in it, just a ball and the hitch on the front of your trailer. You could have pulled the bed off of it and done the exact same thing. That's a very nice trailer, but I doubt the OP wants to drag a triple dual with him when he goes moose hunting.

LOL!
Nope. Just enough supplies and gear for a 2 person hunting trip.
It can take a surprising amount of gear for a 2 man hunting trip. And that's before you add any animals to the mix. I have used the short bed before and it's really tight. The meat needs to be on its own and not stacked so it can cool.

That is a beautiful truck! magnetic right? My truck (if it ever arrives) is also C/C Long box (but as it is fleet, it is white ... always white :-) I actually don't mind white but if I had a choice, I would have ordered your color.

Well the bed had a big cooler, 10 50lbs bags of deer corn, 8 T-post, tool box, legs to the stands. So I was carrying plenty of stuff in my short bed.

And we can deduce that those 8 t posts were not 8 footers.
