Wiper parts or ideas/questions

Other than just cleaning up the wiper arms & piece that goes through firewall to the wiper blades, is there any way to lubricate them effectively. It doesn't look to me like they can be disassembled any further than below without drilling out rivets type fasteners, so stymied. Also on the opposite end the brass bushing, is it lubricated in reassembling?
Since I have everything out of the dash & they wipers are so accessible I am also wondering about it being prudent to replace the wiper motor at this point as I am not sure how well, or even if, it functions since I have not had the truck running yet. It would be a frustrating job to do once everything is back together in the dash area I would guess?
Lastly, the little brass tab which is obviously broken {& I think I still have the other portion of it}, can it be soldered, or just figure out how to replace it? I am guessing that it is for some 'ground' connection, or something?
Thank you once again folks for your sharing of experience/expertise, without which I would be lost numerous, if not most, of the time with my project!

Yes, the brass piece is a ground strap. As far as the transmission Drill a small hole it the side of the aluminum and use a grease needle to pump some grease into it and rotate to distribute the grease.

Sure thing, As a disclaimer, I haven't drilled and greased the transmission but it should work.

Good hack Moose. I have also heard of people drilling and tapping the transmissions and putting in a zerk. The zerk, in my mind, would prevent grease from leaking back out.

I was going to do it the Red Green way with duct tape.
