Looking to wire up my backup camera and need something with an ignition cutoff under the dash. Currently, it's wired hot to a toggle that was installed by the PO. If left on, it has a 5a draw. Seeing how the Mrs is taking it on a girls trip to Mt Shasta for a week, I don't want a call saying the battery went dead overnight. Any help is appreciated
isnt backup camera meant to be hooked to the wire that powers the reverse lights? that way it only turns on when your in reverse an shut off otherwise? least thats how mine is showed in the instructions
This is on my 2000. The camera itself receives a power feed from the reverse lamps but the monitor needs power. The 12v aux and cig are hot with key off, so I need an alternative ignition-controlled source.
Forgot to mention that the camera sends a wireless video signal to the monitor. If it were wired, I'd just use the same reverse lamps source. But alas, it is not. I need a switched hot wire for the monitor.
