1953? You could always go with the Y block that was available. But then again, if a Ford Y block is bordering on too expensive to build the Lincoln isn't going to be easier as the parts are fewer between.
The big job trucks in 53 were using Yblocks. I think they were Lincolns. I'll check my 53 dealer catalog when I go upstairs to bed and report back.

They don't call it a Lincoln and it is not called a Yblock either just the Cargo King, the mightiest Ford engine ever built!
It covers light and heavy trucks. I'm away from the manual right now. I'm sure they were talking about the heavy trucks with those engines. The pictures I saw weren"t clear enough to show a decal.

279/317 Lincoln derived Y blocks used 1952/55. Replaced by the 302/332 Lincoln derived Y blocks in 1956, used thru 1963.
