Well, I'm on the road! running strong on the original Y block & carb (to my knowledge, lol) and stopping confidently with the help of a dual reservoir master cylinder on stock drums. Just need to wire up the brake lights
I've been driving around the block a bunch & something I've noticed is that there seems to be only a small amount of pedal travel between idle and WFO. Leads me to wonder if there's an adjustment that can be made somewhere where there's a bit more leniency for a first-time manual transmission user!

Yes, everything is stock. I don't even know if it's normal, but I figure there should be a bit more travel in the pedal
You should check it by having someone hold the pedal to the floor (engine off) and the look at the position of the carb linkage. Then pull the linkage off the carb the operate the carb by hand and see if there is a difference.
