I purchased a non running 2000 f250 with the v10 motor. The guy said he was driving it and it just died. That's all the info I got from him. It has power to main fuse box on fire wall. The fuse box under the dash is getting power as well. The items related to the ignition are not working. I swapped the actual key ignition with that of another truck and that's not the issue. I also replaced ignition switch with no change. Battery and cables are good. It's getting a full 12.6 volts to fuse box. Any ideas?????
No i didn't copy it. I read that link and it's not the same issue. My truck will not crank nor is it getting power to items related to the ignition switch such as the radio or electric windows
So the starter will not turn? You will find that the more information you share about the problem you are having, the more likely you will get a workable solution.
Most people will separate the starter motor system from the ignition system, with the ignition system being the parts that provide the spark.
For a no start condition especially since power isn't getting to other things, you would start with a freshly charged battery, clean ALL the battery cable terminals, then proceed to verify power at the starter relay.
Well, 12.6 at the fuse box would indicate the battery is good and 100% charged.
Did you check ALL the fuses? Especially in the power distribution box under the hood? Pull all the fuses, and check underneath for obvious corrosion or heat-related issues (melted plastic).
I got the truck started yesterday. The problem is with the three block connectors that connect the wiring harness to the cab next to the computer. For some reason the connection are intermittent. I'm going to try replacing the wiring harness
