Champion radiator experience

What's up guys and gals? I took the plunge without really researching Champion radiators. If you are using one or have used one...what's your assessment? How long did you have it before any issues, if any? Thanks, I ordered the all aluminum type for my 51 Ford F1.

I had one in my truck for a year. It worked to keep the temperature down. Check the cap to see what pressure it has. The stock radiator has very low (if any) pressure. I don't recall what number my cap was, but it was higher pressure for sure, and I'm fairly certain that's what caused my heater core to leak.

Also, the pressure would build up and it would hum to me.

the one I got comes with a 16 pressure max. I have a 4 pound pressure cap on my leaking radiator. Would the old cap work better or make it last longer?

Higher the pressure the higher the boiling point of the coolant. If you have a weakness in the cooling system the higher pressure will find it.

I seriously doubt if the original 4lb cap will fit the new
Champion.
I ran a Champion in my F4 for a few thousand miles and it worked fine cooling SOB engine. Another member here has it now.

There are differences in the height of the cap from sealing surface to sealing surface. The old caps were shorter which is why JP's may have hummed. I would stick with a new cap with lower PSI.

I've had a 3-row in my 53 Chevy since 2014. Cools very well. So far, so good.

Have a Champion designed for a 350 swap in my F1 (with my 4.6 DOHC) and it keeps the truck cool. I am also running an electric Spal 1600 CFM fan.

I have a 24" rad in my 1969 Mustang. It keeps the car pretty cool but I need to do some work to make my fan turn on sooner.

All in all, for the price, these radiators are great for the price.

online it said I would get a 16psi cap but they sent a 9psi cap, would the 9psi cap cause any problems? Should I look for something with less than 9? Thanks

The new radiator can stand 16 PSI, the question is whether it will cause problems with the old school heater core or maybe head gaskets.

IMO That's too high. You also need to check the flange to flange measurement? Lots of variation. See this link:
