Do not use champion cooling, I ordered a radiator for my f1 with the ford configuration to cool my coyote, they sent me a flathead type rad. they did immediately reship the right radiator with the right configuration, but the water flues traveled at about a 10 degree angle, they immediately reshipped another radiator this time the flues are only at about a 3 degree angle- better but still crooked, seems these things always happen on a long holiday weekend. I'm going to ask for a refund so wish me luck on that one, but do not use this company their manufacturing process and quality control process is obviously lacking if not totally nonexistent.
Sorry you had such a terrible experience. I bought a Champion for my 53 Chevy in 2014. Cools very well and I've had no other problems but I don't have a Coyote engine...
I have champion radiators in 3 cars, work great and I will continue to buy them as needed. All were packed well and fit great so not sure what happened on your case. I have never heard of a coyote swap radiator, maybe they are making them at an angle on purpose?
The company immediately set to fix the problem. That right there makes me want to actually use them. People make mistakes. Professionals fix their mistakes.
Actually looking at their site I think I'm going to consider them for my radiator. Be about as cheap as buying an electrical fan and auto-trans cooler for my build.
Perhaps we're not on the same page, hard to tell without pictures. But to me a 3° angle means over the two feet the same row is about 1.25" lower on one side than the other. When it was 10° it would have dropped about 4.25" down. Which makes me think we're not on the same page because that removes about a fifth of the flues that could fit in that radiator and you'd almost have to intentionally build it that way to have it happen.
I can see making a mistake and appreciate a company trying to make it right, but, I don't know, but it seems to me these kind of things should be caught before they go out the door, especially after two previous mistakes! I asked for a refund and hopefully they're going to do the right thing.
I'm in the market for a radiator to use with my coyote as well. I was looking at the Griffin radiator. Nice but they are kind of pricey. Let us know if you find a good bang for the buck.
I hear you about the Griffin radiators, they quoted me $1,100 to get the right inlet and outlet flow I need for the coyote which is simply a ford configuration.
The direct fit model they offer has the inlet in the top center, that wont work with the way the engine is mounted in the F1, just not enough room for my intake to work with that configuration.
I was very excited to find Champion especially for the price point they offered, but unfortunately for me it didn't work out.
I wound up using Be Cool through summit racing, it's a bit more than Champion, but a lot less than Griffin with the configuration I need and capable of handling the HP of the engine with an electric fan.
Again, I wish you the best of luck if you buy through Champion, it seems after hearing the feed back in this forum my bad experience may have just been a one off thing, I don't know, but after three attempts I think they should've gotten it right.
