getting desperate — E4OD help please
considering how many E4ODs must be in circulation, i'm surprised how hard it is to find any info about them online, even from driveline specialty shops...

anyway, i'm trying to figure out which slip yoke i need.
i've got a '95 RWD E4OD (purportedly from a lightning truck). i've got the rear driveshaft (will be shortened) and slip-yoke from a '95 F150 4x4. various sources online indicate that the slip yoke is the same between the transfer case (4x4) and the tranny (RWD) models.
my problem is that this yoke won't install past the backside of the brand new seal i installed (and barely goes in the front boot of the seal).
according to a local driveshaft shop, i should be using a yoke from a C6, which is also 31 spline but measures 1.685" shaft.
but when i search online for E4OD yokes, they show a 1.886" shaft (which is what mine is). however, the confusing part is so far all of the E4OD tranny seals which i've found online (including the one installed) are for a 1.685" shaft (so i'm not crazy that my yoke won't fit past it).
so... do i have the wrong yoke or the wrong seal??? i was hoping the wrong seal (cheaper), but i haven't found one yet that will fit a 1.8 shaft, but before i go and order a $75 1.6 yoke i wanna make sure it would work in this application (despite listings saying it is too small).

any educated insight would be much appreciated, thanks...

2x4 & 4x4 are different in size & you need a smaller yoke to go with a smaller seal.
TheDieselStop.Com Forums: E4OD/1356 Slip Yoke same as E4OD 2x4?
Otherwise you might have better response in the driveline forum

so he has (had) the opposite problem: small yoke, big seal. so that raises the question: can i just get a bigger seal (though i sure haven't see one), or is there something else internal (bushing?) that would also be too small?
guess i need to find an exploded diagram of the E4OD to see what's going on in there.

though it just adds to my confusion since the local driveshaft shop said i would need 2-3-6041X.

guess the smartest thing to do is just have this yoke turned down to 1.685" since i can't seem to narrow down the correct part number for the smaller shaft E4OD yoke.

I plugged the number (NEAPCO N2-3-15631) into the goggle machine & it spit out several COs' with ones actually in stock.
Unless M. Kovalsky sez it won't work
Don't know that turning down what you have will work. Don't think the machined finish will ever seal.
Good luck.
(Edit)
Haven't looked at that, might be different length or it might take a different U-joint

did you happen to notice how long the barrel was? that's the other measurement that seems to be different w/ all these yokes.
hmmm, why wouldn't it seal if freshly machined? i had planned to rattle-can it black -- bad idea?

Just don't think you can get a near polished finish on a turned down shaft that a seal wouldn't get eaten up by.
Maybe you can, I can't say with certainty.
Can you source a replacement in a JY?

ahhh... good point! thanks for checking the diameter anyway.
guess i will try -- i've got a friend w/ a lathe. this yoke isn't doing me any good as-is, so worth a shot. the problem w/ the junkyard route is that here in CO non-4x4 trucks are like unicorns.
