It is one Of those deals where you ask what is your time worth. For me I was backed Into a corner and couldn't afford to have the truck down for an engine pull. The engine I have out that will go in the 97 will pry get the International parts since it's already out and will go another several years and several hundred thousand miles without needing to be looked at.

The oil pan can be removed and replaced without having to pull the engine. All you have to do is take the motor mount nuts off and raise the motor about 6 inches. We did this on my dads 96 7.3 when his dipstick flange was leaking.

^^^^^ By the time you go to that much trouble, draining the coolant, removing the hood, separating the tranny, etc., is it really that much more work to pull the motor the rest of the way?

we didn't have to remove the radiator or drain the fluid. But we did separate the motor and tranny. Just slide it back enough to clear the motor.

You lifted the engine six inches with the radiator hoses attached? What did you do about the A/C?
