Roof rail cross bars are coming off tonight as soon as my wife gets home from work.
We are absolutely loving it! My wife thought she wouldn't like it any better than her Suburban and she keeps telling me how glad she is we got the Ex!!
My engine plans are studs ASAP, STC fitting (if not already done) and the little things here and there, dummy plugs, standpipes, gonna do nipple cups and top injector seals since I'm already there, turbo drain fitting. EGR and cooler are deleted already so that's one less headache.
I know I SHOULDN'T use the Amsoil extended drain life on the oil so I don't necessarily know if it is even worth it to run it in the 6.0? Does Rotella or Delo work just as well?
Rotella T6 is a popular choice, synthetic helps prevent/reduce chances of stiction and reduces the chances of having bearing cooking the oil after shutdown.
stick with 5k mile oil changes, no matter what else you do, bypass filter, extended life oil, etc. the 6L PSD will shear the viscocity down.
AND make sure you use OEM oil filters AND have a Ford OEM oil filter cap!
It's an '05 XLT with heated leather, 4wd with 6.0 TD. Has 139xxx on the clock. All XLT options, Astrostart remote start, Alpine DVD. The body is dang near perfect and the interior pretty much is too. So I consider it fully loaded and CLEAN! We paid a hair over $18k. Best one I've found and cheaper than most of the beat up ones I've found too!
Nice rig, and I can speak from experience a suburban doesn't even compare to these.
I'm in the process of cleaning out and getting the sub ready for sale. having both at hand to directly compare them shows the major differences in the two. I agree, the Suburban just doesn't really compare to my Ex and I'm sure the differences will be GLARING when we finally hook up to the TT and go camping for the first time.
