1962 F100 v8 292.
replaced all the leaking gaskets so, the carb had to come off. I don't recall where the spring on the photo goes to. I know one end goes to a bracket
on the intake manifold and the other end somewhere on the carburetor, but where?
Also now the truck is not getting gas to the carb, I doubt the fuel pump took a dump since it was working fine prior to removing. I removed the hose from the carb and siphoned some fuel to check if anything was plugged. Yes I got some in my mouth :/
Got it to show fuel in the filter but is not making it to the carb. Truck will start will fuel poured into the carb and run while spraying starting fluid. Not sure if the spring and this issue are related.
For the record, I changed the water pump and gaskets at the valve covers
and oil valley at top..
what have I missed? The vacuum hose at the side and front of carb are connected.
You've got the bracket on the wrong bolt. It goes on the first bolt. You also have wrong carb 62 did not have the electrical dash pot on it as far as I know, unless maybe you have air conditioning after market. The spring hooks into a hole somewhere in the area of the throttle linkage.
Not positive, have what appears to be similar set-up on 65 w/ the 390 where spring tension is required to pull the throttle arm to set in idol position. Spring can be placed in any of a 3 hole bracket, position determines amount of tension, I place the other end of the spring on a small 'pig tail' (?) peg that is mounted on the throttle arm forward of the idle adj. screw. Would post pic's but removed Holly 4bbl for rebuild.

The bracket is in the right place, any other place it would not reach.
I do have an aftermarket a/c but is missing a pulley so it's not working
( bought truck this way )
So Im guessing I will have to play around with different places to attach.
Quickest way I know of to get people to not help you is to tell them they are wrong when you are the one asking questions. Here is a picture of the correct location. I know this is the correct location as I bought this from the original buyer in1978 who bought it new in 1963. My wife learned to drive in this truck. When I disassembled it at 95K miles it was a unmolested truck. I took over 300 pictures during disassembly and referred to those pictures when I reassembled it. In my profile pic you se 2 trucks. One is a short box, mine, one is a long box belonging to a man I know. The long box is 44K mile unmolested all original truck with the same motor as mine and yours. The bracket is where my bracket is. I would post a picture of where it attaches to the carb but I am sure it would be wrong also.
