Oh i just installed my kick down arm but i think i needs like an extension or something cause it has a Holley Avenger 4 barrel now. And my spring for my trottle is connected to the back of the cable some one told me its not suppose to be there its suppose to be on the front ( A guy that works a Avanced Auto drives a dodge : / ) He really didnt help much. Check out the pic. of my carb and wires in my gallery.
Your return spring is fine. There should also be a small spring from the hole in the kickdown lever on the carb to something in the front of the carb. I usually just use the hose clamp on the fuel line to hook it too.
Well the guy at the auto parts store said the sping on the trottle should be on the front to give it tension? And i checked on the holley site and they have a Ford Transmission Kickdown Lever Extension :This handy part is used to extend the Ford O.E. transmission kickdown lever when converting from a 2-bbl to a 4-bbl carburetor. Do i need this? They also have Ford Transmission Kickdown Spring And Bracket : Bracket has two mounting holes. For carburetors with a 30cc accelerator pump. Do i need this too? Thanks!
You need the kickdown extension, not sure about the spring and bracket, probably would be needed too. Can you provide a link to it so we can check it out?
Justin,
Is this an aftermarket kickdown linkage?
Did you paint it red?
A kickdown (rod/bar) should be the same distance for all 302/C4 setups.
You can bend the rod to lengthen or shorten it. This will adjust how early or late its kicks down.
The throttle spring can be mounted from the top of the throttle linkage to the front of the manifold or from the bottom to the back. It's that simple. I rig one of each, just in case.
Wiring harness; You look like you've got some serious work. I would recommend cutting a harness off another truck and splicing in. Especially that igniton plug.
Good luck,
KingFisher
justin04, looking at your pics and comparing them to my 75 F250, you're missing the spring, which connects just forward of the kickdown extension in the small hole, and the opposite end connects forward and down in the lower part of the assemble. Not quite sure of all the part names, but best i can do.
