We use to Kilz everything in a customer's home before finish painting, interior and exterior.

I should have when I painted the cabinets I made in the kitchen..

I used Home Depot primer and paint and it sucks..

Lowe's has an excellent kitchen and cabinet paint that I've used before. Semi gloss or gloss latex. Lightly sanding the Kilz before painting gives a smooth finish.

The home depot crap can't be washed.. It gets gummy and has wiped off.

Yeah.. Maybe I will leave it then paint it when I go to sell..

It will look good and by the time it peels off I will be long gone...

I think I would try washing off as much as I could to get down to solid finish, probably the primer. TSP might cut it.
