I have a 96 with two problems that are compounding each other. On my front gas tank the pump is clogged and I also have one tank filling the other.
In researching how to fix everything I ran across someone who stated that unlike all previous years, 96's didn't have separate tank selector valves but instead tank selection was handled within the front fuel pump. Since I can't see anything under there that looks anything at all like a selector valve I'm assuming that is correct. And that brings me to my question. What fuel pump do I need?
I assume the different setup would require a different pump but when I look on Rockauto (for example) part numbers don't change from 95 to 96. Is it just a standard fuel pump and somebody figured out that the selector valve was unnecessary? I notice that most pumps have 2 tube ports but some have 3. The pump that is on there now has 2, but there is a line sitting on top of the tank which is capped off. Do I need a pump with 3 ports? I have a Chiltons manual and a shop manual on CD but neither of them are any help here. I'm hoping you all will be.
I'll be replacing the whole tank of course since something in there clogged the pump and it's starting to show some rust anyway.

The tank being filled has the bad valves inside the tank.

The last gas truck to have the selector valve on the frame was the 1989. The last gas E-series with that valve was 1991.

You need a fuel delivery module (FDM) for the size (shape) fuel tank you have.

1994-1996+ is the same for the same fuel tank.

The module is the same but the hanger is different for the front and back tanks.

You need two ports. The third one is for a generator that is used mostly on RV's
The capped line on top of the tank runs from the rear roll-over/vapor valve to a “T” on the front tank from its roll-over/vapor valve to the canister in the engine compartment.
