Having problems with my 2001 excursion door locks. I have replaced the actuators before and everything worked fine. That was about 2.5 years ago. Now one day all of the door locks stopped working besides the drivers door. Rear hatch doesn't work either. They don't unlock or lock or even make a sound. Before when the actuators went bad it would make a noise. I've checked the switch in the door and check all the relays under the dash I'm lost on this one. I don't think it's the actuators bc the hatch has no action either. Any advice is appreciated
Have any maintenance/repairs been done to the truck where stuff was taken apart and put back together in any panels or under the dash?
The locks run through the GEM module, but when this happened to me, it was the master switch in the driver's door. There is also the "lock out" switch for the rest of the doors there as well. Check the wiring inside the "boot" that channels the wiring from the driver's door back to the frame. After 17 years of opening and closing, a wire might have finally rubbed through and shorted out.
I am not sure this will help, but on my 2000 Limited 7.3 it was programed to unlock just the drivers door with a single push of the fob unlock button. When you want to unlock all the doors and the hatch you do a quick double tap on the fob's unlock button.
Just went through this this weekend. Rear hatch would work at all. Wouldn't even lock with the key. Took the entire mechanism out. Sprayed it with engine decreaser, cleaned it, and applied a light grease to it. Lock works like a champ now.
