saving original bulb sockets laparoscopic surgery

If you have arcing in the sockets with good bulbs but they are still not working, Drill a small hole where you can see arcing in the plastic socket

Use rosin Core Solder and solder the loose/corroded joints through the hole.

make sure : connection is tight, pull on wires, bulb works when moving or pulling on wires

Use RTV or a waterproof sealer on the solder hole.

No more problems and no cut wires,this seems to be a common issue with this style socket .

One piece molded plastic tail lamps, tail lamp & backup lamps sockets are the same:

1974 F100/350 Stylesides from serial number T80,001; 1975/79 F100/350 Stylesides; 1975/91 Econoline; 1978/79 Bronco.

These tail lamp sockets are also the same as the parking lamp sockets for 1974 F100/350's from serial number T80,001; 1975/91 Econoline; 1978/79 Bronco, and...

Thanks Number... I had a turn signal socket doing the same thing. I replaced it instead of using this method. I could of kicked myself for not thinking of it earlier now I have spliced joints in the turn signal wiring although it is soldered and heat shrank. But still, these can be saved with no cutting unless rotted beyond help.

You may find yourself doing his more and more, the original single-filament bulb sockets for back-up lights are already out of production. If one of them goes bad you will HAVE to do this.
