I bought a replacement coil (Chinese) from Napa back in September 2016. It crapped out on me. Didn't even last a year. Wondering if you guys can recommend a good quality replacement that won't leave me stranded. 83 F150 300 inline 6.
Thanks.
I'm not sure what engine or mods you have - but I buy 90% of my performance parts from Summit Racing. I have been running the MSD ignition and coil for several years now without any problems.
What year and engine?
Napa has good parts. Also see Rockauto.com look up your truck and you will see they carry a couple of different brands (grouped into categories like "economy, standard, premium". or similar wording). That will give you some idea of the better brands. You can't go wrong with Motorcraft (if that is a choice). RockAuto
I would like to know why the stock coil was replaced?
Normally you never need to replace them.

I was chasing down an issue and decided to replace the coil as a matter of course. The issue was a rusted out choke stove tube. I tried everything before eventually removing the carb when the issue became evident. I also replaced the stock ICU at that time and IT failed also in a matter of five months. What's with the after-market NAPA crap parts!? Both original parts have been replaced and the truck is running fine again. After the stove pipe was fixed of course.
With regard to the original question re: coil... I like to keep a spare on hand.
