A couple of months ago I decided to finally purchase and install a washer fluid reservoir and pump which my truck has not had in my 6 years of owning it.
I decided to go with the $11 cheaper imported piece of junk because it looked the same as the OEM one. Big mistake. After installation all of the fluid leaked out from around the pumps seal. The entire top of the unit would also pull right off when I opened it to refill it.
I finally gave up on it and ordered the OEM Ford unit that I should've ordered in the first place. Naturally I forgot to order a pump so that had to be ordered a few days later.
My problem now is that the fluid is still leaking out past the pump. Is there some kind of trick to getting the pump to seal with the crappy metal retaining ring that comes with it? I have close to $90 into this endeavor and nothing to show for it yet.
This is the pump I picked up from RockAuto.com Installed in my original reservoir and fit very snug with no leaks. The instructions said to lubricate the seal before installing. I don't recall what I used as lubricant. The cost was less than $5 and WP664 was the part number.

You got directions with yours? How much extra was that. I checked that site out and naturally they are out of stock right now. I may try the lubrication route. I guess something that wouldn't hurt rubber would be good. Thanks.

For some odd reason my washer fluid is no longer leaking out. I guess letting it sit for almost 2 years did the trick.
