1994 f150 300 auto here
Want to replace my cluster for one with a tach, so I ordered one off of ebay. Now that I have it I am reading up more on it and getting concerned in regards to matching the date of the cluster with that of the truck. I was getting the idea that the number in "FxTF-" indicated the production year, but then I realize I have different numbers all over.
Middle speed/odo is removed.
Oil/temp piece has F2TF-10E972-/-10E853-GD N
Battery/fuel has F2TF-10E871-/10E853-DE N
Top of tach has F4TF-17360- A ASY
Bottom of tach has F4TF-10E853-DA N
At the top of the whole assembly is a sticker that says F4TF-10(9 or 8)49-DC
On the red circuit board is F4TF-10C956-C
And on the back printed within the plastic where the speedo goes is
44ZG-5651 CAV 2 F2TF-10848AA P -TALC
Any help would be greatly appreciated. All these different numbers are making me thing this is just a mismatch of random year parts but I don't know. I'm not extremely mechanically skilled or knowledgeable but am learning as I go. Before I disassemble everything and am left stranded I just have a few main questions.
-What year is this?
-Will this work plug and play with my 1994?
-If it won't work plug and play what wiring changes must I make?
-If push comes to shove and I have to reorder one how can I verify I am ordering the correct year?
And just so you know, those are engineering numbers. They indicate among other things, when the part was designed. So it's not uncommon to see a part with a number starting with "F2" on a 1996 truck.
