Alrighty, so last time I posted was in November, and it was about me purchasing my 1976 f-150 Custom 4x4, Brenda. I bought her from my uncle, he who lives in Washington, i live in California, for 3500$. We were only up there for a week or two in november for thanksgiving then heading back home but I couldnt leave without having my uncles word that he'd sell the truck to me. He agreed and we headed home without the truck. I didnt have my license and no one else could drive her down so she stayed. So i made payments to my uncle for a few months as i balanced finishing junior year of high school and making orders at Carl's Jr. About seven (that's right 7!) months later my mom gave in and planned a weekend to go get Brenda before school was over so i could drive her to school during the last week. So i took my friend up to Washington, picked up the truck, headed down to Portland for a Def Leppard concert, and then stayed at a motel and was ready to go the next morning. Except that Brenda wouldnt wake up. After trying to start her for about ten minutes, aaa was called and came out to help. I was inside on the phone with my uncle talking about what was going on. While I was inside the guy had poured gas in the tank and told me he did so when i came out. So I tried to start her up one last time and....nothing. We ended up getting her towed and she was going to stay at this mechanics shop until we could come and get the truck again after they look at it or have the truck towed down here by someone. A few days had passed and the mechanic shop had called and told us that the only thing wrong with Brenda is the lack of gas in the tank. Thats all. Just no gas. Lol so after my mom telling me "well the aaa guy only put in about a half a gallon" and another two weeks, we took another little road trip to portland and got Brenda and brought her home. She has a lot of different things about her right now, even from just getting her home a month or so ago, but thats for a different thread.
(Note: The picture of the gtr in my door mirror proves we were going faster
Best picture is that big old grin in front of your truck. And don't feel bad about the out of gas part. The previous owner of my truck did the same thing, otherwise he probably never would have sold it to me so cheap if he knew that it was so easy to get it to run.
That's a great looking truck. You remind me of myself when I was around your age. My Dad gave me his 79 F100, instead of trading it in, on my 15th birthday. I'm nearly 50 now and still drive it everyday.
Take good care of it, keep it well maintained and it will last you a long time.
You'll always have that memory....trust me. I hope you don't "kidderize" it....BUT we all did back when we were 17 sooo....have fun!!
trying to preserve the truck plus kind of making it into the 4x4 ive always wanted (unstoppable-attractive-crawling-powerful trail destroyer) definitely is challenging.
So far I've taken off the running boards, buffed a few scratches out (a big one was under the gas tank), oil change, new fuel filter, ran sea foam and soaked the cylinders in Marvel Mystery Oil, a lot of engine cleanup, switching the set of 1979 tires for some 31 MTs, and also installed a tachometer. Shes got new door mirrors on the way too!

it was definitley a bitter sweet feeling finding out it was just the gas, bitter cause she could have been home sooner but sweet for the easy fix plus the story and memories and wait do make it worth it
