Brake problems. Please help diagnose !!!

Brake problems. Please help diagnose !!!
I have a 2002 F350 CC LB DRW 7.3L and ive just started developing a issue with the brakes. Im leaning towards a master cylinder begining to fail but as ive never experienced this id like some advise from the wealth of knowledge here.
The issue im having is an abnormal peddle feal. If i apply firm pedal and maintain that ammount of force on the peddle then peddle feals normal however when i begin to release the peddle even the slightest the peddle jut drops out almost all the way to the floor. If i release then re-apply the peddle preasure is back until i begin to release the peddle again. Its very unnerving when comming to a light
very intrested in hearing what everyone thinks as all i can do right now is throw parts at it since i dont have the experience to find the problem
