exhaust fumes in cab

i got fumes in cab, was looking over engine, no exhaust leak . but i noticed smoke/fumes comming from my dip stick and from some form of cap/vent attached to the valve cover. I pushed the dipstick down and that sealed. my question is , is it normal to have smoke comming from the crankcase out the dip stick and if i replace the vent/cap will that stop the smoke comming from there also is this normal or is something wrong internally?

There are o-rings on the bottom of the Doghouse, which is the cover thing your talking about.

It's part of the emissions return that ford put in.
People tend to loose the o-rings, break them, or what not and not replace them.

The doghouse should connect up into the intake on one end of it towards the front of the truck.

Clay has an o-ring kit for these.
If you want, you can replace them from ones from the parts store, but you'll have to do it again when they burn up due to heat.

You'll have to look in the SD section, the parts are the same though.

As well, it is normal for blow by on our motors.
