The owners manual I found online only gives jack points for 4x4 for the front end...
and the haynes I've got shows jack stand points for the front but I need to find a spot for the floor jack.
I started lifting from the actual frame, just further back towards the middle. But with the weight of this truck it didn't seem best so I stopped. Just don't want to hurt anythting
You'll see the pins on the arms that go from the hub towards the center of the vehicle. Use your jack and lift on the arm just to the side, then use the pin for your jack stand. Easy and solid.
A guy had his 2WD on 4 jack stands with the front held up under the bumper somewhere. Haven't looked yet, but that's where I'll be trying to lift from next time. Last time i lifted from the frame rails behind the front wheels just fine, but I needed to use 4 2x4s stacked on my 4ton jack to lift my Ex high enough since its got a 6" lift, which I don't recommend, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
I lift from under the bumper bar, beefy bar to keep little cars from going underneath. I put a 6-ton jack stand on each side of the floor jack for safety. This leaves a lot of room (with front tire off) to get in/out.
When rotating tires, I put my floor jack under the lower shock mount since I only need to lift an inch or so off the ground.
Forgive me for a noobish question. Just got this 2000 2wd excursion and can't find good jack points to lift the front end.
There is a cross-member right in front of the two radial arms, but it is very thin so I am weary of jacking from there.
I see some good points to put the jack stands right next to the lower ball joint, but am not sure where to place the floor jack.
Any tips would be appreciated!
I've lifted mine from the center lots of times without issues. If you then place the stands under the arms you might have problems since the suspension will compress and the arms move in an arc that may tip the stands outward. Try it carefully and see, I've never done it so I'm not sure what they'll do.
