Touchscreen random reboot

Driving home from work today and had my sync screen black out on the road, then it rebooted. Happened once before and I completely forgot about it until it did it again, anyone else have this happen?

Nope, take it in. That's probably just going to get worse.

It's a computer and I expect it to "run home to momma" occasionally--so yes on occasion it does happen. I had it with my 2015 as well. Now if it doesn't reboot or does this frequently then you do have a problem. My navigator was doing something screwy this weekend on a trip so I backed out of it to the home screen and reinitiated the navigator and things were fine again.

Once in a blue moon can be normal.. if it keeps happening, APIM will need to be replaced.

If you bring it in right away they will take it and give it back unchanged saying can't find it. A reboot is considered good as the system found the fault and rebooted on its own.

As others mentioned if it happens often bring it in.

Haha what? A reboot is not good, the system is not protecting itself. There was a catastrophic failure in hardware, or more probably memory, that caused a kernal panic and the system **** the bed. If it's hardware or memory, it will only degrade with time. That's not normal and I personally wouldn't live with it since you can get it replaced for free.

Once in 8k miles - on the road - we got back in the truck after a brief stop and the touch screen never came on. About 10 miles down the road wife found the manual reboot procedure in the manual and got it rebooted first try. Hasn't done it since.

I've had occasional reboots as well. I don't recall specifics, but I think it happened when I had an iPhone plugged in and was using Apple CarPlay. I'm 16k miles and 9 months in and only remember the reboot occurring 3-4 times.

Compared to the issues I had with my '14 Jeep Wrangler and phone/audio BT - this system is rock steady! I (not-so-fondly) remember the UConnect system crashing so hard that the clock wouldn't even increment and the car had to be shut off for 60 seconds before it would reboot - not fun when you're 5 minutes into a 50 minute commute and now the only thing you've got to listen to is the wind noise, the tire noise, and then random squeaks that every Wrangler seems to have.

That's not so bad, and probably software based if you were using CarPlay.

If it was happening weekly, I'd be getting a replacement.
