we could laugh all day at the blunders of ford. the simplest of things even. cab lights and cup holders. not to mention the countless pages in this section with folks having every conceivable problem on these new trucks. if your going to sling some mud atleast have a clue
With all due respect Sir, this kind of attack on a fellow member is in poor taste. Personal stories and credible links aren't a prerequisite to post one's thoughts or opinions on these boards.

No.

Don't get your feathers ruffled over someone speaking of their own experience or opinion. Come on! Chill out Bud. We're all friends here. That's what this site is for.

Not aware that GM or Dodge makes a diesel engine therefore they are disqualified.

Just saying.

Yes I do.... In 2012 we were looking to buy a new 3/4 ton diesel truck.. went into it with an open mind willing to consider a dodge ram so here's my take at that time... Throttle response of the Cummins was terrible.... Engine noise in the cab was also terrible... Fit and finish of the interior was ok at best just looked cheap... And definitely a rougher ride than the F250 we ended up purchasing.... That's my relevant story...

Well, I have owned both GM and Dodge trucks and both were problematic. '99 GMC = worst vehicle I have ever owned. '03 Ram dumped transmission at 12K miles. My last 3 trucks have been Toyotas and were impeccable in terms or reliability. Only complaint I ever had with Tundra was a propensity to warp front rotors. Tacoma was a great little truck, dead-nuts reliable but gas mileage was poor. The F250 is my 7th Ford since '89 but my first Ford truck since a '93 Ranger.....so far, I am impressed. Overall, I would rate it higher than my '12 Tundra and we will see if it proves to be as reliable.

im not ruffled but if someone going to claim a particular vehicle falls apart they should quote some sources where they get the info, not just talk out their rearend

just in the short time ive been around here these are the problems with '17 SD that i remember. dash going black, multiple transfer case seal leeks, wheel seal leak, cab light leaks, cab leaks, oil spraying under hood from unknown source, tail gate going down on its own supposedly, blown shocks, tailgate bezel smashed when tailgate is lowered, door body lines not lining up. just a small portion what i recall off top of my head. your horribly mistaken if you think these trucks dont have their share of problems

as much as everybody says gm is crap, ive kinda seen the opposite. you couldnt give me a free gm truck because i just dont care for them but if you ever been around the railroad they buy gm by the hundreds and beat the crap out of them offroad everyday and they hold up ok for the abuse they go through.

Sorry Willynilly, It's just my opinion didn't mean to get you all worked up.

Here is what I based that comment on. I have friends that have owned Dodge trucks over the years and they seemed to have a lot of similar problems: rust as well as the paint peeling off. The interiors were poorly made they just weren't holding up well at all, dashes cracking, handles and ***** breaking or falling off. Electronics issues resulting in the vehicle not being reliable, engine problems in the gas trucks.

This would have been from the early 2000's to about 2012 when I bought my last (and current) GM truck. So maybe things have improved since then and maybe I got lucky but during that same period I owned 3 different GM trucks (2500,2500,3500) and 2 Toyota Tundra's and all of these were trouble free vehicles. I had to do a fuel pump on one of the Chevy 2500's and really that was it other than regular maintenance. The Tundra's had zero issues, in fact we bought another one last year. so in my eyes anyway, compared to what I was driving, Dodge didn't seem to be making a reliable truck.

So that is what put me off of Dodge. If Dodge has been good to you and yours I can see how you would have a totally different viewpoint.

Anyhow, didn't mean to ruin your Sunday.

Have you seen a 5+ yr old Dodge/Ram body up here in Ohio? They are rotting away before the last payment on a 60 month loan is paid off...

I assure you that the problems you listed above are, by and large, the exception and not the rule. My 2017 is 8 months old and has never been back to the dealership yet. No problems at all. Most guys are having this experience. All first year runs of redesigned vehicles have some issues to iron out, its a given in the developmental process, however, I have to say that the "biggie" problems that normally surface, haven't happened that I've seen yet. When I say Biggie problems, I mean systemic issues that affect huge numbers of vehicles.
Ford did a very good job with the introduction of the 2017 Super Duty. Lots of good press on it, and lots of them selling. Let me ask you, how many Super Duty TV commercials have you seen touting its superiority, proclaiming it #1. I've seen none. Ram has Sam, and Chevy has Howie. Who's Ford had lately? Ford is walking the walk instead of talking the talk.

I've owned them all, and even many more in my business too. They all have their quirks and I must agree, the Dodges do rot out the fastest up here in the salt regions of the NE.

Carry on fellers!

I read the IIHS report on headlights at the end of last year. Their results mirror CR's results. Some vehicles with dazzling lights are given poor ratings while other vehicles with average lights are given higher ratings.

They rated the Prius V with LED headlights as the vehicle with the best headlights. You've got to be kidding me.

CR has zero credibility. It's kind of like the Home Ec teacher in high school telling you which pickup truck is best for hauling or going off road.
