Has anyone successfully pulled the mirror caps WITHOUT sacrificing the 5th clip? Thanks.
I swapped my chromes ones out tonight for body color caps and didn't break any clips. I took the mirror off by reaching behind it and undoing the clips. You can then access that "sacrificial" clip and undo it.
The shop manual tells you how to take the whole mirror assembly apart without breaking anything. You start by taking the mirror glass out. There are a couple of You tube videos that demonstrate the factory way. I had to replace the the front housing due to the P.O. hitting something with the mirror. Took it all apart and fixed it without any clips breaking.
This may be a stupid question but what are the four parts listed? isn't it just the top left and right caps you are replacing?
Which one is the part numbers for the textured mirror covers. Might be missing something but I can’t tell the difference in the PTM and textured from the pictures or description. Thanks

The part numbers that end with “ptm” are the paint-to-match.
I've been looking everywhere. I have an AFTERMARKET set of ford 20 something truck tow mirrors. I ordered the caps that i thought would fit, but they dont. The amazon caps, from two different sellers, are both too small to fit our mirror.
Has anyone encountered this? Is there a simple solution, like, later years mirrors are smaller or bigger and the caps are different?
