I have a 94 Bronco 302 automatic. Stopped for 5 minutes yesterday started it up and check engine light came on. Started driving and it just didn't want to pull. Eventually got up to speed but took a loooong time. Nursed it home, just out of curiosity tried to push the button to lock out overdrive but light never came on, not sure if that means anything or not. Any ideas?
Try changing your fuel filter! My '94 XLT, 302 E4OD would not accelerate when I bought it. Changed the filter and she ran! Never mind that I have also replaced tranny (OD went BOOM!!!) and fuel pump in 9 months that I have owned it. My girl says that once I finish replacing all the major parts I will not only have a good lookin' vehicle, but a good runner too! (Smart girl!!)
Ok next time you get the truck running drive it around for about 10 minutes (best at night) then look under the truck and see if the cats are glowing. Also listen for any hissing comming from the engine compartment especially at WOT. If the cats are glowing or the exhaust is hissing you have a clogged cat.
Another thing to check is remove the negitive cable from the battery for 20 minutes. It also helps to leave the dome light on. This will reset the computer and will hopefully get you back up and running properly. What possibily happened is your tranny went into "limp" mode because something went out of range.
Thanks for the ideas guys. I went out yesterday after work and checked the wires going to the TFI ? module just wiggled them really, and took off the coil wire. It had a lttle corrosion on it, cleaned it up started it and everything was fine. Back on the road again
