1996 5.8 Bronco problems.....

hey guys...
i just got another bronco after not having one for about 7 years. i have always owned fords but im having a few problems with this truck that i never had seen.
1. check engine light came on...autozone jumped the codes and said it was "bank 2" o2 sensor. replaced that and 2 days later the light came on again. now az says it is the "bank 1" o2 sensor. what would cause both to go out first, then how do i check the o2 sensors to see which one is bad. haynes tells what voltage you need but it doesnt tell you which wires to test. i have 3 o2 sensors and they are all 4 wire. i need to figure out which front one is the problem.

2. in the morning up here it is starting to get cold. i noticed yesterday that you could only see the "smoke" coming out of one side of the dual exhaust. i know its not smoke, but no other way to explain it. i have dual exhaust. it comes from the cats into a y pipe then out to duals. this is really weird because i would think the temperature of the exhaust out of each side would be the same.

thanks alot for any help....

My experience with the O2 sensors has been just the same. When you replace one, the other goes haywire. If replacing all of them is not the solution, your cat(s) may be getting plugged. That would only explain bank 2 or the post cat sensor, unless you still have both cats on the Bronco. The first one closest to the motor is a "pre" cat.

always replace both o2 sensors together. as for the exhaust part i wouldnt worry about it. its not a true dual system
