I'm very sorry to see this. I've been through a total loss with an Ex and it sucks! That said do the best to fight for the most money you can. I was able to move them from 8K to 12K showing comps basing it off replacement value. But mine was due to the other drivers fault and when using your own policy it can be clear as mud what you are entitled to.
I haven't been around much and I check in, then see this. Matt, I'm really sorry for your loss. I'm glad you were alone and you will be alright. Via con Dios Stay Puft.
Other Matt,
So sorry to hear about your loss. I know the feeling, years ago I had a 2000 Explorer that I dearly loved. She died literally ripping the front end off of a 4Runner that pulled out in front of us.
It was very sad.

Sometimes - the Parking brake can be used in these situations, just apply it slowly !!!
Yeah, it didn't work for ****. More on that later... but it recently passed state inspection and that's part of the criteria

Appreciate it man. Sad day, but still alive so hard to complain too much

It's almost worse when a loved vehicle dies protecting you... Sigh
Everyone-My apologies if I offended anyone with the crocodile tears saying.
That is not what I intended to do. Here a bunch of have said that for years meaning crocodiles are extremely large and therefore would have larger than normal sized tears.

Lol. My old supervisor would cry "tears as big as horse turds"
As for the inspection, well, that's further proof that they are not making us any safer. Just like the front license plate debate, no value added in the real world.

Bah, I wasn't worried about it. Been around long enough to know that a common saying can have a different meaning entirely somewhere else. It's all good bud
While I hate to add on to Alaskan, it is a fight. I have GEICO and I offered to send them Kelly's Blue book price since theirs was a few thousand less. I did negotiate a bit better but the kicker was that the claims adjuster said in response to my KBB offer "GEICO has their own book". I said where did that come from followed by the witty response I don't know. I said usually when someone quotes you out of a book that they know nothing about or even where it came from, it usually they're just making it up ie OK KBB says $XXXXX so take 2000 off of that and that's our settlement. After that, they don't care--off to the the auction and that's it. That's why I said that if there's anything on there you want, take it--you paid for it-believe me. I had the third row seat out. They picked it up while I was at work. I now have an extra 3rd row seat

I actually got a pretty damn good deal on it considering the undercarriage rust and nearly 300k miles. Plus buy back was beyond fair, so I'll be bringing her home and parting it out, plus keeping a few items (wheels and tires, maybe suspension). Make more money out of it than if Geico had given me more anyway, gotta get the fund going for the replacement
It is indeed for real, popped up yesterday online and I jumped on it. Razzi has to clear it as its a 6.0, but I'm not too worried about it. 186k miles, if it was going to blow up as far as I'm concerned it would have done it already. 2004, Eddie Bauer, and has lived in Texas from original purchase (at the same dealer even) til now. Also serviced at dealers with full paperwork, etc. For $11000, if it passes Razzi's scrutiny, it's hard to pass up!
Bulletproof will be easily affordable after part out, with monies left over for ATS springs so I can throw my wheels and tires on it, and still have left over money for savings and Chevelle.
Overall, while absolutely TERRIFYING and rather painful, the experience has worked quite well in my favor.

I appreciate that buddy, thank you. Family is pretty happy I'm still around too, lol.
For $11k, I'd jump on that too. Sounds like a great deal if the motor is healthy. Has it been bulletproofed?
I'm really glad to see that you're planning on staying in the Ex family.
Next... are you REALLY sure you want a black vehicle? I had a black on black car when I lived in Phoenix. That was the hottest summer of my life. I know Houston doesn't get Phoenix-hot, but I wouldn't buy a black vehicle in Texas if it were me.
