I'll be alright. Got discharged a few hours ago. Nothing broken, no permanent damage other than heartbreak. Everything hurts to high hell, concussion, lacerations from broken glass, cracked and bruised ribs, and a missing toenail from where I kicked the **** out of the windshield frame when I missed the damn window the first time.
Brakes failing is indeed the cause, with absolutely zero symptoms. If I had been in stop and go or an area with more stop signs and lights it may have been a totally different story, but I was cruising a rural county road that had the right of way at every intersection and hardly any traffic, so I hadn't needed to touch the brakes for miles. That was the only turn/curve that required any form of speed change, and of course it needed a drastic speed reduction and when I needed the brakes, they weren't there.
We'll see what comes of a discussion with a lawyer regarding the shop that supposedly repaired my emergency brake and then passed the state inspection all of three weeks ago. I tested the parking brake afterwards and it worked, but a little kinky feeling. Since I never use it, I didn't think much of it. I'm not one to sue and all that ****, but something fishy seems to have occurred... or steps were missed or skipped...
End of the day, I'm alive, my kids and wife have a dad and husband still, so I can't complain too much. No idea what the next ride will be, but I do know my hot rod diesel days are over - costs too damn much, and the Chevelle needs back on the road and back to daily driver like she used to be.
Updated and things unfold an develop. I just got a $5000 offer from another FB page member as he wants all my go fast goodies, supporting mods, and trans plus 4wd to convert his. We'll see what's up.
good to hear your ok and if you wan to rebuild the X there are some pretty cheap X's in canada theres one in quebec for 1900$ CAD its a 7.3 also from what i saw it has a pretty good roof an A pillars
Glad you are OK. I too am alive thanks to the mighty X from a wreck in Waco just a year ago. I went right back to the same model / year as soon as I could find one. Looks like you were near Nolanville?

Damn close Master Chief, don't know my roads around here as I'm staying with a friend for pipeline work in Round Rock. But the house is in Temple off W Adams

Those front pillars are worrisome as heII. We all own such a beast of a truck but when you turn her over she's a cupcake.
The roof and supports have always been a weak spot, they're aren't really designed to support the full weight of our rigs... Considering mine landed on the A pillar and roof corner after flipping the first 180°, I'm amazed it didn't completely pancake... and thankful too, because I probably wouldn't be here
No idea what the plan is. I know for sure that I will not be rebuilding her, but if buy back is reasonable then Razzi and I may get it back to his place for part out and split the profits. Mostly because I won't be able to drive back and forth across Houston to help so he'll be doing most of the work at his house, and because he's been there for me time and time again. There's too many great upgrades in her to go to a scrapyard and let some shmuck 'steal' them for part yard prices
Dang man. Glad you are OK. That no brakes feeling isn't a good one. Thankfully both times I have had it there was a way out. I guess you could say you had one as well. A one car accident is much better than 2. Good on you for your quick thinking
Sorry for your loss but glad you're ok! I was just looking at your posts yesterday trying to find a build sheet, for your beautiful truck, since it was apparently the fastest 7.3 ever. Maybe when you get everything settled down you could PM me some specs.
Until then, rest and recover. Good to see you made it!
