Hey Guys,
New guy here. I have been playing with the B&P tool on ford site and have a question about the GVWR. I'm attempting to maximize payload for a possible truck camper purchase in the future. My build:
F350 4x4 SRW
6.2 w/ 4.30
Long bed (or short, really struggling with this decision due to length)
XLT premium package
Camper package
FX4 ( 18" AT tires)
5th wheel prep
When I spec out the truck, the B&P has an option for a 10K or 11400 GVWR. If I don't select any of those GVWR options, will the truck default to 11500 GVWR? I would prefer to have the higher GVWR for payload reason. Looking to place my order this week. Thanks for your help.

For configuration described and either SC or CC:
Long bed default = 11,500#. 11,400 and 10K are paper deratings (no mechanical changes) to qualify for lower registration costs in some jurisdictions.
Short bed = 11,300#, but the short bed trucks weigh less, so the payload hit is <200 lbs.
Awesome thanks for the info and the link to the fleet PDF file. Guess I just need to figure out the long vs short bed. I'm really digging the large 48 gallon tank on the long bed but that wheel base just seems like a bear during city driving/parking.
See my truck in my signature. The only thing I did not have on mine that the OP stated is the 5th wheel and gooseneck prep kit. I do not know what this adds for weight but I would guess a couple hundred pounds maybe.
My GVWR is 11,300 and my payload is 4226 lbs.
When I went into order my f350 6.2L long bed srw, in the order page on the dealer's computer, it defaulted to 11,400 and was asked if I wanted to go up to 11,500. The 10,000 is a paper rating to bring registering/insurance costs down in some states. I believe it comes down to what options you put into your truck and some end up at 11,300 rating. Until you go in and order your truck at the dealer or look at the window sticker of a truck on a lot, you wont know for sure what yours will be.
Wyobull,
Sweet camper, have you weighed your rig with camper? The reason
I would opt for the 5th wheel prep is for the plug in the bed. Did u install a plug on the side of your bed? If so, did you have to cut through bed in order to install plug.
Vancouver,
Nice to know, I'll ask during the order process. BTW, what's the specs on your truck and payload?
