Can't unhook speedo cable! Help!
I am trying to switch my 85 mph speedo with a 100mph speedo but I can't remove my cable. I have unplugged the wiring harness. The cabel is to short for me to pul it out to see the retainer ring and see what I'm doing. Also the A/C duct is making it harder to reach.
Please help!

when i remove mine the plastic collar was already broken i dont know if this is with yours or not but also for others if it is just give it a firm hard pull and it will pop out...kinda tricky getting it back in also....

If you can't get the cluster out far enough to release it, look under the hood and make sure the cable not caught on sometime. Push all the slack thru the firewall . Some times I have even took the cable off the tran to gain extra slack.Like Willd said they can be Brittle.
